Grab your passport, luggage and your boarding pass and climb aboard as we journey together on the wings of prayer! This year's Vacation Bible School (VBS) will help children learn the importance of prayer, why we pray, and how to incorporate prayer into their daily lives! We will be touring through multiple countries and meet saints who were major prayer warriors! Our VBS consists of a Bible Adventure, Games, Crafts, Snack, Imagination Stations, and Singing and Dancing! All participants will also be performing a live concert for their parents at the end of the program!
For your health and safety, please read the following below before you board your flight! (aka, register your child for this program): Drop off and pick up times: Vacation Bible School 2026 is taking place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel from 9 am to 12 pm from August 24-28. Pick up time is 12:00 pm except for on Friday August 28. Instead, the children will be performing a concert for you starting at 12:30 pm! VBS will therefore end at 1:00 pm on that day.
Registration Requirements: Our VBS is designed for children aged 4-10 only. Please register your child if you are able to make it to at least 4 out of the 5 days, as we have limited space. All children aged 11-18 are welcome to volunteer during our prep week from 9am - 12 pm August 17-21. For more information, click here: https://sw.dol.ca/vbs-volunteer-registration
Cost: The South Windsor Family of Parishes offers VBS for free every year! We collect donations after the children's concert, so please hold on to your donation until then. A suggested offering of $10 per child is appreciated. Thank you. :)
Food and Photos: We provide children with one snack a day. On Friday, we will also be providing a pizza lunch! Therefore, please let us know if your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions when you register them so we may accommodate. Please note that photos will be taken throughout the course of the program. Some of these photos will be published on the Internet. If you do not want your child's photo to be taken, please indicate that on the registration form, or reach out to Katie Jacobs at [email protected]BEFORE the start of the program.
Important to Know: Our Vacation Bible School is volunteer based, mostly consisting of high school and elementary school students. We truly believe every child is valuable and deserves a safe, supportive environment. At this time, we don’t yet have the trained staff or resources needed to fully support children with certain special needs. Because of that, we’re concerned we may not be able to provide the experience your child deserves. We would really like to talk with you about your child’s needs and see if there might be a way to make it work together, or explore other options. We are working toward improving our ability to support all children in the future.
We understand that starting camp can be a big transition, and it’s completely normal for children to feel some separation anxiety. That said, our VBS environment is best suited for children who are able to participate comfortably without significant distress throughout the day. When a child is experiencing severe separation anxiety, it can make the experience overwhelming for them and may prevent them from fully enjoying the program. To help ensure a positive experience for everyone, we recommend that children who are still working through strong separation anxiety wait until they feel more comfortable being away from home for extended periods. We’re happy to discuss ways to help your child prepare for camp in the future—we’d love to welcome them when they’re ready!
We hope you enjoy your flight! Please fill out and sign the attached form. You may scan the form and email it to Katie Jacobs at [email protected] or you may drop it off at the Parish office. The office is located at Corpus Christi at 1400 Cabana Rd and is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 9 am to 4pm, but breaks for lunch 12-1 pm. Please note that any forms that ae not signed by at least one parent or guardians will be considered invalid!
